Why both certifications
Sleep medicine and cardiology are usually practised in separate buildings by separate people who never see each other’s notes. Meanwhile a large share of patients with atrial fibrillation, resistant hypertension, or heart failure have untreated sleep apnea driving it, and a large share of sleep apnea patients have cardiac disease that changes which treatment is safe.
Reading both means the sleep study is interpreted against your ejection fraction, your rhythm history, and your medication list not in isolation. It means central sleep apnea gets recognised rather than treated as obstructive. And it means one visit instead of a referral loop that takes four months.

How a visit tends to go
You will be asked about your sleep, but also about your blood pressure readings at home, your rhythm history, your medications, and whether anything wakes you at night. That is not padding it is what determines whether a home test is the right test for you and what your numbers will mean once we have them.
If a home study is not appropriate for your case, you will be told so at that visit and referred to an in-lab centre rather than sold a test that cannot answer your question.
